Blast on Patiala Railway Track Raises Security Concerns in Punjab
A late-night explosion on Monday along the Shambhu–Rajpura railway track in Patiala district, Punjab, has triggered panic and raised serious security concerns in the region. According to initial reports, the blast occurred on a section of the railway track, causing visible damage to the rails.
Fortunately, no train was passing through the track at the time of the explosion, preventing what could have been a major disaster. Authorities have confirmed that train operations on this route have been temporarily halted as a precautionary measure.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma reached the spot soon after the incident and initiated an immediate investigation. Teams from the local police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and other security agencies have been deployed to secure the area and conduct a thorough search operation.
Preliminary findings suggest the possibility of a planned act of sabotage, although no group or individual has claimed responsibility so far. Forensic experts have also been called in to examine the nature of the explosive material and gather crucial evidence from the site.
Following the incident, security has been tightened across nearby railway routes, and inspections are being carried out to ensure the safety of passengers and railway infrastructure. Authorities have issued a high alert in the region to prevent any further untoward incidents.
Local residents remain anxious, while officials have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible once the investigation progresses.
This incident once again highlights the urgent need to strengthen security around critical infrastructure like railway networks in India
